Campers of nearly any skill level can have fun building circuit boards, and even making a very simple computer inside Minecraft. As they master Redstone skills, we offer challenges that teach key concepts in programming, design, electrical engineering, and architecture, all while using teamwork and social skills. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Brimmer and May Day Camp is specifically designed with the younger child in mind. Our goal is to enrich your child's summer experience through play, success, and engagement with other children and with our committed staff. All of our Head Counselors and Specialty Counselors are over 21 years old and most specialize in early childhood education and development. Every day each child from 3 to 10 years old will do a variety of activities: Music, Arts and Crafts, Sports and Games, Drama, Lego, Clay, Nature, Swimming.

Every child at Brimmer and May Day Camp swims every day in our heated pool and no one needs to come to camp knowing how to swim. We will teach your child how to swim!

Our Specialty Programs are taught by Brimmer and May faculty who have designed their program to enhance your child's summer learning in a creative way. They will be encouraged to attempt new things, test themselves and learn new stuff! They will get an hour of free swim in our heated pool every day.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The Counselor-in-Training program at Brimmer and May will provide an opportunity for students entering ninth and tenth grade to teach and work with younger campers as apprentice counselors while learning the ropes. CITs (also known as Campers-in-Transition) are under the supervision and direction of experienced professional staff. CITs will get an opportunity to work with each age group, and when appropriate, be asked to lead activities. Weekly meetings provide feedback and guidance throughout the summer.

CIT applicants must be available for the full camp day (8:15-4:15 p.m.) and can select either a full summer (all 8 weeks of the program) or either of two four-week sessions (first or second half of summer). CIT's are also required to attend pre-camp staff orientation.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes is a friendly place where youth with diabetes, their siblings and friends benefit from hands-on learning experiences in diabetes management and support within a fun and welcoming environment.

Our mission is to foster friendships among children with diabetes, their siblings and friends through a safe, active program while enabling them to learn about and face the common challenges of diabetes.

Camp Jack is Accredited by the American Camp Association and is a member of the Diabetes Education and Camping Association. We have a Registered Nurse on site at all times and each of our staff are trained by a Certified Diabetes Educator. The program’s small enrollment and staff-to-camper ratio ensures a quality camp program in which the campers receive plenty of supervision from exceptional role models, take part in a variety of camp experiences and learn something new every day.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Mass Motion Dance Summer Camps are a fun and educational summer activity for your child offering the opportunity to experience, experiment and explore the many different aspects of dance. Mass Motion Dance has offered quality dance training since 1983.

With locations in Sturbridge, Boston and Peabody, Mass Motion Dance has highly qualified instructors.

Dancers spend each day in two different technique classes including ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, Broadway, tap, hip hop, and lyrical. Alternating with technique classes, students are offered complimentary activities such as improvisation, composition, tumbling, pedagogy, dance history, and choreography.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Mass Motion Dance (MMD) offers high quality dance education, to students of all ages, through a wide variety of dance classes. Founded in Sturbridge, Massachusetts in 1983, under the direction of Terri Gordon, MMD has proven its excellence in dance training. Ms. Gordon, a former member of the Boston Ballet Company and Tanz Forum, the modern dance company of Cologne, Germany, is passionate and driven to develop each student’s technique to its highest level. In 2003, MMD proudly announced the opening of the Boston studio under the direction of Irada Djelassi. In 2010, MMD North opened its doors in Peabody, Massachusetts to students under the direction and ownership of Katherine Hooper.

Whether a student’s goal is fitness and recreation or a future career in dance, at MMD dancers will find classes that fit their objective as well as their schedule. Students may choose from a broad range of dance idioms such as ballet, modern, tap, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, Irish step and more. OTHER CAMP INFO: Mornings will be spent learning repertoire and styles on your instrument, including Scottish, Old Time, and Irish. After a break for lunch, the afternoon will be spent learning singing, dancing, and playing with harmonies, and learning to arrange the tunes in the context of small and large ensembles.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Youth should plan to be online 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. weekdays, and to work ten additional hours per week on their projects. Most of the scheduled time is for projects but some of it will be for meetings.

Required equipment: A tablet or phone with a front-facing camera. A video camera or DSLR camera will also work.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Classes will be taught by theatre professionals who have not only studied theatre but have in-depth professional experience in the industry

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Summer Theatre Camp will run from July 2 to July 23 and culminate in a full scale musical theatre production to friends and families at our own Theatre. Camp Fee is $975 for the full 4 week session

CAMP FACILITIES: Plugged In is stocked with instruments and plenty of practice rooms to jam out in. Professional music teaching staff are available all day to assist campers and offer one-on-one attention and suggestions.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: - Live Zooming and friendship-making time (prescheduled so your family can plan ahead!)
- Off-screen activities for independent play and learning (and naps! and yard time!)
- Hands-on activities with real art materials (art camp should be a little messy!)
- Small group sizes ensure that campers receive high quality instruction and individual attention from their teachers.
- Daily movement and mindfulness exercises integrated throughout the day to get the wiggles out

Camp tuition includes an Art Toolbox mailed to your home and a live exhibition every Friday that the whole family can attend, even those living far away.

Camp Staff:
Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Code Ninjas offers year-round afterschool programming in computer coding, 3D design, engineering and more! School vacation week camps are also available throughout the school year.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
Pre-camp week includes one-day workshops beginning June 20. Full-day and half-day camps begin June 27. JR camp (ages 5-7) begins June 27 and runs through August 19.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have beautiful indoor as well as outdoor facilities, state-of-the-art visual and performing arts studios, outdoor pool, indoor gyms, air conditioned dining hall, as well as full sized sports fields.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We offer specialized camps in various sports, arts, and educational focuses as well as a general camp where kids can choose the activities they participate in every day. Our mission is to create a child-centered environment where campers can learn life skills, participate in stimulating activities, interact with other children their age, and be guided by caring adults.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We offer two levels of an amazing leadership/CIT program, where teens learn and practice all forms of leadership as well as child development.
